ふわりと天使が舞い上がる

空以外の梯子は要らない

鳥が翼をしつらえるには，

厳格な指揮棒も要らない

歌う時に責め立てられる．

The implements of bliss are few –

As Jesus says of Him,

“Come unto me” the moiety

That wafts the cherubim.

祝福の道具はほとんどない―

イエス様自身のおっしゃる，

「我が元に来たれ」の一言で

ふわりと天使が舞い上がる．

A Weed of Summer came –

She did not know her station low

Nor Ignominy’s name –

嘲笑されていた彼女の家に

夏草がひとかぶやって来た―

彼女は自分の地位の転落も

汚名のことも知らなかった―

Bestowed a summer long

Upon a frameless flower –

Then swept as lightly from disdain

As Lady from her Bower –

夏は長い夏を与えてやった

これという名前のない花に―

そっと侮蔑から逃げ出した

婦人が部屋を出るように―
