私の寝床を探してみると― 墓がすでに就寝していた 私に用意された枕の上で―

Bereaved of all, I went abroad –

No less bereaved was I

Upon a New Peninsula –

The Grave preceded me –

全て奪われ，外国に赴いた―

そこでまた私は奪われた

新しい半島に行ってみた―

墓はもう先回りしていて―

Obtained my Lodgings, ere myself –

And when I sought my Bed –

The Grave it was reposed upon

The Pillow for my Head –

私より先に，入室していた―

私の寝床を探してみると―

墓がすでに就寝していた

私に用意された枕の上で―

I waked to find it first awake –

I rose – It followed me –

I tried to drop it in the Crowd –

To lose it in the Sea –

起きると墓は先廻りして―

立つと―後ろをつけてきた―

人混みに墓を捨てるため―

海の中に投げ込むために―

In Cups of artificial Drowse

To steep it’s shape away –

The Grave – was finished – but the Spade

Remained in Memory –

人工の眠りを誘う酒杯に

姿を浸して消そうとした―

墓は―消えた―のに墓の鍬は

今でも記憶に残っている―
